Regulatory Disclosures

Last updated 5 October 2026

PatternX is a software tool, not a regulated financial firm. It is not authorised or supervised by any financial regulator, and no investor-compensation or deposit-guarantee scheme covers your use of it. You trade on your own account, at your own risk, through venues you choose and contract with directly.

Which rules bind you depends on where you live and which venue you connect. This page sets out the disclosures that matter most in the jurisdictions our users trade from. It is information, not legal or tax advice โ€” the obligation to comply with your own local law is yours, and it is not one we can discharge for you.

Everyone: what PatternX is not

PatternX does not give investment advice or personal recommendations. Signals, confidence scores, pattern labels, backtests, optimisation results and AI-generated text are impersonal software outputs produced by algorithms applied to public market data. They are not tailored to your objectives, financial situation, knowledge, experience or risk tolerance, and no suitability or appropriateness assessment is performed โ€” because we are not permitted to perform one and do not hold the information to do it.

PatternX never takes custody of money or assets, never has withdrawal rights over your account, and never trades as principal or counterparty. It transmits orders you configured to the venue you connected, using credentials you supplied.

No result is promised. Any figure shown on our marketing pages is illustrative demonstration data, clearly labelled as such. Backtested, simulated and hypothetical results carry well-known limitations: they are computed with hindsight, they do not reflect real order-book liquidity, and they cannot capture the psychological pressure of trading real money.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom

Not an investment service. PatternX does not provide any service listed in Annex I Section A of MiFID II (Directive 2014/65/EU) โ€” no reception and transmission of orders as a regulated activity on your behalf, no execution, no portfolio management, no investment advice. The regulated firm in your trading relationship is the broker or exchange you connect to, and its terms, disclosures and complaints process govern the trades themselves.

CFDs and leverage. If you connect a contract-for-difference venue, the retail protections introduced by ESMA and made permanent by national regulators apply at that venue, not here: leverage capped by asset class (commonly 30:1 on major currency pairs down to 2:1 on crypto), margin close-out at 50% of required margin, negative-balance protection, and a standardised warning of the percentage of retail accounts that lose money. Between 74% and 89% of retail investor accounts lose money trading CFDs with typical European providers. Check the exact figure your provider publishes before you trade.

Crypto-assets. Crypto-asset services in the EU are regulated under MiCA (Regulation (EU) 2023/1114). PatternX is not a crypto-asset service provider: it neither custodies, exchanges, transfers nor places crypto-assets. Crypto-assets are largely unregulated as investments, are highly volatile, and are not covered by investor-compensation schemes. Crypto derivatives โ€” including the perpetual futures the scanner is built around โ€” are complex, leveraged instruments. In the United Kingdom the sale of crypto derivatives to retail consumers has been prohibited by the FCA since 6 January 2021; UK retail users must not connect a venue to trade them.

Consumer rights. If you contract with us as a consumer, the mandatory protections of your own country of residence continue to apply regardless of the governing-law clause in our Terms, and you keep the 14-day right of withdrawal described there.

United States

Not an investment adviser. PatternX publishes impersonal, non-discretionary analytical software on a regular basis to subscribers generally, and does not hold itself out as advising anyone on their particular situation. It is not registered with the SEC or any state securities regulator as an investment adviser, and it is not a broker-dealer, an FCM, an RFED, a CTA or a CPO. Nothing it produces is a recommendation within the meaning of Regulation Best Interest.

Pattern day trading โ€” FINRA Rule 4210. If you place four or more day trades in the same margin account within five business days, and those day trades are more than 6% of your total trades in that period, your broker must designate you a pattern day trader. A designated account must keep at least $25,000 in equity. Fall below and the broker issues an equity-maintenance call and may restrict the account to closing transactions for 90 days. PatternX counts your round trips on US margin equity connections and blocks the trade that would trigger the designation while your equity is under the threshold. You can review the guard, and how close you are to it, in Settings โ†’ Risk. The guard is a convenience, not a guarantee โ€” your broker's own count is authoritative, and it can differ (for example where positions were opened outside PatternX).

CFDs are not available to you. Contracts for difference cannot lawfully be offered to US retail persons; off-exchange leveraged retail forex may only be offered by a CFTC-registered RFED or FCM. Several venues PatternX can connect to are CFD or offshore derivatives platforms that do not accept US persons. Connecting one from the United States, or misrepresenting your residence to open an account, is your violation and not something PatternX can cure.

Crypto derivatives. Leveraged retail crypto transactions must be executed on a CFTC-designated contract market. Most offshore perpetual-futures exchanges are not, and their terms exclude US persons. Before connecting a crypto venue, confirm it lawfully serves US residents.

Taxes. PatternX is not a tax adviser and issues no tax forms. Your broker or exchange reports what it is required to report. US traders should note in particular the wash-sale rule on substantially identical securities, the mark-to-market treatment of Section 1256 contracts, and that trading gains are generally taxable in the year realised regardless of whether you withdraw them.

Sanctions and restricted territories

PatternX may not be used by anyone subject to EU or US sanctions, by anyone on the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals list, or from a comprehensively sanctioned territory. Using the service from such a place, or on behalf of such a person, is a breach of our Terms and grounds for immediate termination.

Your responsibility

Trading may be restricted, licensed or taxed differently where you live, and some jurisdictions restrict automated order entry outright. Before you enable live trading, confirm that doing so is lawful for you, that your venue lawfully accepts residents of your country, and โ€” if anything is unclear โ€” take advice from a licensed professional in your jurisdiction. PatternX cannot and does not make that assessment for you.
