Momentum Lab, explained

What each strategy does, every parameter and its default, how exits are protected, and exactly where the limits are. Read it before you switch anything to Live.

1 · Overview & quick start

Momentum Lab scans extended-hours movers lists — the top 50 gainers and 50 losers from each data source, refreshed every 15 seconds — for significant price movements, tracks qualifying opportunities in real time and can execute your configured momentum strategies automatically. It watches US stocks, runs three strategies — each with its own settings, limits and statistics — and lives in the dashboard at /dashboard/momentum.

Its job is not to predict. Its job is to apply your rules to every candidate it picks up, the moment they qualify, with a deterministic record of what happened and why — something a person watching a few screens at 6:45 AM cannot do.

Quick start — the safe path

  1. 1Be on the Elite plan. Other plans can open Momentum Lab as a preview, but cannot enable paper or live execution.
  2. 2Make sure you have real-time extended-hours data — see Market data. Without fresh data, entries stay blocked.
  3. 3Open /dashboard/momentum, pick a strategy and read every parameter against the tables below before you enable it.
  4. 4Run it in Paper. The strategy logic is identical to Live; only the execution adapter differs.
  5. 5Review the analytics for that parameter version, adjust, and let the new version build its own record.
  6. 6Switch to Live deliberately — it takes a typed confirmation — and know where STOP MOMENTUM TRADING is before the bell.

2 · Plans & access

Momentum Lab is part of the Elite plan. Accounts on Free, Starter and Pro can open a preview, but cannot enable paper or live execution. The check is enforced on the server, not only hidden in the interface.

3 · Market data — what Momentum Lab needs

Momentum Lab trades only on real-time data it can verify. It works from your connected broker's data — Interactive Brokers market data, or an Alpaca account with a real-time consolidated feed — or from a supported premium data provider. It never trades on scraped web pages, and a feed that reports itself as delayed is never traded on.

Check your market-data entitlement
Real-time premarket data generally requires a real-time market-data entitlement with your broker or data provider. A free or single-venue feed may cover only part of the premarket session. If your data is delayed or stale, Momentum Lab will show it — and will not enter.

What every quote carries

Each observation records its timestamp, source, bid/ask, last trade, session and freshness. A price without an exchange timestamp is never traded on, and entries are blocked whenever the newest quote is older than your stale-data threshold (default 10 seconds).

4 · Sessions & New York time

Everything runs on the exchange clock — America/New_York — not your device's time zone. Daylight-saving changes, weekends, exchange holidays and shortened sessions are handled for you; if you trade from outside the US, the sessions simply move relative to your local time when the clocks change.

SessionNew York timeNotes

Regular hours9:30 AM – 4:00 PMOpening Momentum Continuation confirms here. Ends at 1:00 PM on shortened days.
After-hours4:00 – 8:00 PMEnds at 5:00 PM on shortened days.
ClosedWeekends & exchange holidaysNo entries.

5 · States & duplicate-entry protection

Each symbol has one deterministic state per strategy and trading day, and only defined transitions exist. A stock that crosses its trigger a second time finds its existing state rather than a fresh one, so the same move can never produce a second entry. Another entry in the same stock happens only under your re-entry rules (default: one entry per symbol per day, then a 30-minute cooldown).

StateMeaning
WATCHINGThe symbol is being monitored for this strategy. Nothing has qualified yet.
ARMEDThe symbol has qualified and is waiting for its entry condition — for example, a breakout candidate within 2% of its trigger, a reversal candidate whose move reached 8%, or a premarket mover waiting for the open.
TRIGGEREDThe entry condition was met on fresh data. The pre-trade checks (data, liquidity, risk, capacity, optional AI, broker) run now.
ORDER_PENDINGAn entry order was sent (simulated in Paper) and is waiting for a fill.
PARTIALLY_FILLEDPart of the entry order has filled.
OPENThe position is open and its exits are being managed.
EXIT_PENDINGAn exit order was sent and is working.
CLOSEDThe position is closed; the trade is recorded against the parameter version it was opened under.
COOLDOWNThe symbol rests after a trade and can only return to WATCHING under your re-entry rules.
SKIPPEDThe symbol was not traded. The reason is shown — for example “Skipped — Liquidity Filter: spread 2.4% > max 1%”.

6 · Premarket Momentum Breakout

The primary strategy. It watches US stocks during premarket (4:00–9:30 AM ET) and measures each one against a reference price — by default the previous official regular-session close. When a stock crosses the trigger (default +5.00%) on fresh data and every check passes, it enters; the exit then trails 0.50% below the highest price reached after the fill.

Entry trigger
Default: +5.00%
The day move, measured from the reference price, at which the strategy triggers.
Reference price
Default: Previous close
What the move is measured from: the previous official regular-session close, or the first fresh premarket price PatternX observed for the stock today.
Direction
Default: Long
Long trades an upward cross; Short trades a fall of the same size; Both trades either. Short entries need a broker that allows short selling.
Arm band
Default: 2%
The symbol is ARMED once its move is within this distance of the trigger — from +3% with the defaults.
Require a genuine cross
Default: On
A stock first seen already past the trigger has not crossed it in front of you; it must pull back below the trigger before it can trigger.
Maximum chase
Default: 3%
If the stock is already more than this far past the trigger when the cross is observed, the entry is refused as “Skipped — Moved Too Far”. 0 turns it off.
Confirmation quotes
Default: 1
How many consecutive fresh quotes at or past the trigger are needed before entering.
Active sessions
Default: Premarket
The sessions in which the strategy may enter: premarket, regular hours and/or after-hours.
Why a stock already at +12% does not trigger
With Require a genuine cross on, a stock that is already past the trigger the first time PatternX sees it has to pull back below the trigger first — buying it on sight would be a chase, not a breakout. And if a cross is first observed more than 3% past the trigger, the entry is refused as Skipped — Moved Too Far.

7 · Momentum Reversal

Finds extreme premarket movers that start to reverse — both extreme gainers turning down and extreme losers turning up. The extreme (the premarket high for a gainer, the low for a loser) is tracked continuously. Once the move from the reference price reaches the minimum (default 8%), the stock is ARMED; it triggers when price has come back 1.5% from that extreme on consecutive fresh quotes. A gainer turning down is a short; a loser turning up is a long.

Minimum premarket move
Default: 8%
How far — up or down — the stock’s premarket extreme must be from the reference price before it qualifies (ARMED).
Required reversal
Default: 1.5%
How far price must come back from the premarket extreme — the high for a gainer, the low for a loser — to trigger.
Maximum reversal
Default: 6%
If price has already come back further than this, the reversal is treated as spent and skipped. 0 turns it off.
Minimum remaining move
Default: 4%
The day move must still be at least this large at entry. 0 turns it off.
Direction
Default: Both
Short fades gainers turning down; Long buys losers turning up; Both does either. Shorts only where your broker allows them.
Confirmation quotes
Default: 2
Consecutive fresh quotes that must confirm the reversal. A new extreme resets the count.
Wait after the extreme
Default: 0 s
Optionally wait this long after the extreme prints before confirming.
Active sessions
Default: Premarket
The sessions in which the strategy may enter.
Short entries depend on your broker
Short entries happen only where the connected broker allows short selling for that account and that stock. Where it does not, gainer reversals are skipped. This strategy also defaults to a wider 1.00% trail and a 100,000-share minimum premarket volume. After an exit or a skip, the same reversal never fires twice — a new extreme has to print first.

8 · Opening Momentum Continuation

Watches strong premarket movers (default 5% or more) into the 9:30 AM ET open, then waits for the confirmation you choose — a premarket-high breakout, an opening-range breakout, holding above a premarket level, or the VWAP relationship where data is available — alongside the usual spread, liquidity and volume checks and optional AI confidence. Default exit: a 0.5% trail.

Premarket move to qualify
Default: 5%
A stock that moves at least this far in premarket is ARMED and waits for the 9:30 AM ET open.
Direction
Default: Long
Long follows premarket gainers; Short follows decliners; Both does either.
Confirmations
Default: Premarket-high breakout
Every check you select must pass: premarket-high breakout, opening-range breakout, holding above a level, and the VWAP relationship (only where your data provider supplies VWAP).
Confirmation window
Default: 15 min
Minutes after 9:30 AM ET in which the confirmation must happen. Otherwise the stock is skipped for the day.
Opening range
Default: 5 min
Length of the opening range used by the opening-range breakout check.
Breakout buffer
Default: 0.10%
How far beyond the level price must trade for a breakout to count.
Hold-above level
Default: 3%
For the hold check: the day move that must hold.
Volume since the open
Default: Off
Shares traded since 9:30 AM ET required to confirm.
No confirmation, no trade
If the selected confirmations do not all pass within the confirmation window, the stock is skipped for the day. If you select VWAP and your data provider does not supply it, that check cannot pass.

9 · Shared parameters

Every strategy has its own copy of the settings below, so each can be tuned independently. Defaults are the values a new strategy starts with.

Universe & liquidity filters

Minimum market cap (safety filter)
Default: $500M+ (Balanced)
Mandatory, and checked before every other rule. Choose $100M+ (Broad — higher risk), $500M+ (Balanced — recommended) or $2B+ (Large Cap — more selective). An unknown or stale market cap is never entered. Changing it saves a new version.
Minimum price
Default: $1.00
Stocks priced below this are skipped.
Maximum price
Default: None
Stocks priced above this are skipped.
Minimum volume
Default: Off
Shares traded so far today, premarket included.
Minimum premarket volume
Default: 50,000 shares
Shares traded in today’s premarket. Momentum Reversal defaults to 100,000.
Minimum dollar volume
Default: $250,000
Price × shares traded today (premarket shares during premarket).
Minimum relative volume
Default: Off
Today’s volume divided by the stock’s average daily volume — not adjusted for time of day. Only available with Interactive Brokers data.
Maximum spread
Default: 1.00%
Bid–ask spread as a percentage of the midpoint.
Minimum quote size
Default: Off
Shares displayed on the side you would trade against.
Symbol exclusions
Default: None
Tickers this strategy must never trade.
Exchange filter
Default: All
Limit entries to chosen listing exchanges: NASDAQ, NYSE, NYSE Arca, NYSE American, Cboe BZX or other.
Halt detection
Default: On
Skips a stock whose data feed reports a trading halt.
Volatility-pause detection
Default: On
During regular hours, skips a stock that looks paused — a locked or one-sided book with no recent trades.

A value the data source cannot provide never passes a minimum that is switched on — “unknown volume” is not “enough volume”.

Position sizing & exposure caps

Sizing mode
Default: Fixed $1,000
Fixed dollars, % of available capital, % of portfolio, or fixed shares.
Max position value
Default: $5,000
Caps any single position, whatever the sizing mode says.
Max strategy exposure
Default: Off
Caps all of this strategy’s open positions combined. The account-wide cap is under circuit breakers.
Max per-symbol exposure
Default: Off
Caps the total open in any one ticker.
Max simultaneous positions
Default: 3
Open positions this strategy may hold at once.
Max daily entries
Default: 10
Entries this strategy may make in one New York trading day.
Fractional shares
Default: Off
Only used where your broker accepts fractional shares in that session.

Exits

Trailing distance
Default: 0.50%
Distance below the highest price since the fill (above the lowest, for a short). Momentum Reversal defaults to 1.00%. 0 turns the trail off. Not a loss limit — see Trailing protection.
Trail follows
Default: Last trade
The price the high-water mark and trail track: last trade, the executable side of the book, or the midpoint.
Hard emergency stop
Default: 3%
A fixed stop measured from the average fill, independent of the trail.
Take-profit
Default: None
A fixed target from the average fill. None means the trail runs indefinitely.
Exit at a set time
Default: Off
Exit at a New York time you choose.
Max holding time
Default: Off
Exit once a position has been held this long.
Session policy
Default: Continue into regular
Exit before the open (by default 1 minute before 9:30 AM ET), continue into the regular session, or continue through after-hours.
Flat before the close
Default: 2 min
Positions close this many minutes before the regular close — or the after-hours close when continuing through after-hours.
Hold overnight
Default: Off
When off, nothing is carried into the next day.
Momentum deterioration exit
Default: Off
Breakout and Continuation: exit if the day move falls this many percentage points below the entry trigger.
Spread exit
Default: Off (10 s)
Exit if the spread stays above a level you set for this many seconds.

Every strategy needs at least one exit. Price-based exits act only on fresh data; time-based exits (exit time, max holding time, session policy) fire even when data is stale.

Order handling

Entry limit buffer
Default: 0.50%
Entries go out as marketable limit orders priced up to this far through the quote — the most entry slippage you accept.
Entry order timeout
Default: 10 s
An unfilled entry order is cancelled after this.
Keep a partial entry
Default: On
Keep a partly filled entry (on), or cancel it and flatten what filled (off).
Exit limit buffer
Default: 1.00%
Exits go out as marketable limit orders priced this far through the quote.
Exit order timeout
Default: 5 s
How long an exit order may work before it is re-priced.
Exit attempts
Default: 6
An unfilled exit is re-priced and resubmitted up to this many times…
Exit buffer step
Default: 0.50%
…widening the buffer by this much on each retry.
Prefer native trailing
Default: On
Allow Broker Native protection. It is used only when every condition under Trailing protection holds — including Live mode, a regular-session fill and a hard emergency stop of 0 — so not with the defaults.
Broker-side emergency stop
Default: On
Alongside a PatternX Synthetic Trail, also rest the hard emergency stop at your broker where it accepts one in that session.

Re-entry

Entries per symbol per day
Default: 1
How many times this strategy may enter the same ticker in one trading day.
Cooldown after an exit
Default: 30 min
Time a symbol rests in COOLDOWN before it can be watched again.
Re-arm distance
Default: 1%
Breakout: after an exit or a skip, the move must fall back this far below the trigger before it can trigger again.
Retry a temporary skip
Default: 30 s
Skips that can clear on their own — data, broker, position limit, AI — are re-checked after this. 0 = never.

Data quality, AI & strategy risk

Stale-data threshold
Default: 10 s
Entries are refused when the newest quote or trade is older than this.
Bad-print guard
Default: 3%
A last trade further than this outside a fresh bid/ask is ignored in favour of the midpoint.
PatternX AI filter
Default: Off
Rank and filter detected opportunities with PatternX AI. Momentum Lab’s AI switch must be on as well.
Minimum AI score
Default: 60
Opportunities scoring below this are skipped.
If AI is unavailable
Default: Skip
Skip the entry, or proceed without the AI check.
Max strategy loss per day
Default: Off
Stops this strategy for the rest of the day after losing this much.
Max consecutive strategy losses
Default: Off
Stops this strategy for the day after this many losses in a row.

10 · Trailing protection — Broker Native vs PatternX Synthetic Trail

PatternX chooses a position's protection once, when the entry fills. The trailing order rests at your broker — shown as Broker Native — only when all of these hold: Live mode, Prefer native trailing on with a trailing distance above 0, an entry filled in the regular session, a broker that supports native trailing orders then, a session policy other than continuing through after-hours, and the hard emergency stop set to 0. Otherwise — including with the default 3% hard stop — PatternX runs the PatternX Synthetic Trail: it tracks the high-water mark continuously on its servers and sends an extended-hours-compatible exit order the moment the trail is hit. The high-water mark is stored server-side, so it survives a restart.

Outside the regular session most brokers accept only limit orders, so exits go out as marketable limit orders priced through the quote and are re-priced on each retry until they fill — see Order handling above. Where your broker accepts a stop order in that session, the hard emergency stop can also rest at the broker alongside a synthetic trail.

A trailing distance is not a loss limit
A trailing distance is not a loss limit. A 0.5% trail does not guarantee a maximum 0.5% loss or a 0.5% give-back: premarket liquidity, price gaps, wide spreads, slippage, rejected orders, partial fills and broker order restrictions can produce a realized exit that is materially different from the trail level.

A worked example

  1. 1The entry fills at $10.00. With a 0.50% trail, the trail starts at $9.95.
  2. 2The price climbs to a high of $10.80. The trail follows to $10.746 (0.50% below the high).
  3. 3News hits and the next trade prints at $10.60 — straight through the trail. The exit order goes out immediately.
  4. 4It fills around $10.60 or lower: about 1.9% below the high, not 0.5%. Had the price fallen right after the fill, a gap could likewise turn a 0.5% trail into a larger loss than 0.5%.

Illustrative arithmetic. PatternX records the gap between the trail level and the actual fill as slippage, and shows it in your analytics — it is never hidden.

What a synthetic trail depends on
A PatternX Synthetic Trail is managed by PatternX rather than resting at your broker, so it depends on PatternX, your broker connection and your market data being available. That is why market-data and broker-connection failures are circuit breakers, and why every position shows which protection it has.

11 · Data quality, filters & skip reasons

Market Cap Safety Filter — checked first

Every strategy carries a mandatory minimum market cap, so the default configuration never enters very small companies automatically — where liquidity, spreads and volatility are hardest to manage. The order is fixed: candidate detected → market cap → liquidity, volume and spread → the strategy's own conditions → risk limits → PatternX AI (if on) → entry.

SettingMinimumWhat it means
Broad — Higher Risk$100M+A wider universe, including smaller companies. May produce more opportunities but can involve greater volatility, wider spreads and lower liquidity.
Balanced — Recommended (default)$500M+Balances opportunity frequency with additional protection against very small-cap securities.
Large Cap — More Selective$2B+Restricts Momentum Lab to larger companies. Generally fewer qualifying opportunities.

A stock exactly at the minimum passes; anything below it is skipped and recorded as “Skipped — Below minimum market cap”. Market cap comes from your data source — Interactive Brokers reports it, and so does the platform Polygon feed where PatternX provides one; Alpaca does not publish market cap. When no current figure is available (including ETFs, which have none, or a figure more than 72 hours old), the stock is skipped as “Skipped — Market cap unavailable”: a missing market cap never counts as a pass. The filter is in addition to every other check below, never a replacement for them, and changing it saves a new parameter version so analytics show which threshold admitted each trade.

Every trigger then passes the same gates — data quality, liquidity and universe filters, risk and capacity limits, the optional AI filter and the broker. A stock that fails is never dropped silently — it is shown with a label and the exact reason.

LabelTypical reasons
Skipped — Below minimum market capThe market cap is below your setting ($100M+, $500M+ or $2B+). Recorded as SKIPPED_MARKET_CAP.
Skipped — Market cap unavailableYour data source has no current market cap for the stock — none at all, still loading, or more than 72 hours old.
Skipped — Data QualityStale or delayed data, no exchange timestamp, no price, crossed quote.
Skipped — Liquidity FilterPrice outside your range, spread too wide, too little volume, premarket volume or dollar volume, quote size too small, low relative volume, halt or volatility pause.
Skipped — Universe FilterOn your exclusion list or outside your exchange filter.
Skipped — Moved Too FarA breakout first observed beyond the maximum chase, or a reversal that was already spent.
Skipped — Position LimitThe strategy already holds its maximum simultaneous positions.
Skipped — Risk LimitDaily entries used up, an exposure cap would be exceeded, or the position size rounds to zero shares.
Skipped — AI FilterBelow your minimum AI score — or AI unavailable while set to skip.
Skipped — SessionFor example, no opening confirmation within the confirmation window.
Skipped — Broker / ExecutionThe broker is unavailable, or the entry order was not filled in time or was rejected.
Skipped — Kill Switch / Circuit BreakerSTOP MOMENTUM TRADING is on, “Pause all trading” is on, PatternX trading is paused by the administrator, or a breaker has tripped.
Skipped — Elite RequiredThe account is not on the Elite plan.

Data, broker, position-limit and AI skips can clear on their own; they are re-checked after the retry delay (default 30 seconds).

12 · Paper vs Live

Paper and Live run identical strategy logic — the same detection, filters, sizing and exits. Only the execution adapter differs: Paper simulates fills against live quotes from a virtual balance (default $25,000); Live sends real orders through your broker connection.

  1. 1Momentum Lab starts in Paper. Use it until you understand how your settings behave in a real premarket.
  2. 2Switching to Live requires an explicit typed confirmation — it can never happen through a stray tap.
  3. 3The current mode is always shown prominently, so you always know whether real money is at work.
Paper fills are kinder than real ones
Simulated fills cannot know your real queue position or how a thin premarket book reacts to your order. Expect live slippage to be worse than paper, especially in low-volume stocks.

13 · Kill switch — STOP MOMENTUM TRADING

One control, four effects:

  • • Disables new entries immediately, across every strategy, until you resume.
  • • Cancels eligible pending entry orders.
  • • Keeps existing positions visible — nothing disappears from view.
  • • Lets you choose separately whether to exit those positions.

14 · Automatic circuit breakers

Breakers stop Momentum Lab from opening new positions without waiting for you. Account-wide limits apply across all strategies; the per-strategy loss and losing-streak limits are under each strategy's settings. Loss, trade-count and error limits trip for the rest of the New York trading day; data and broker failures pause new entries only while they last.

Max daily loss ($)
Default: Off
Momentum Lab stops opening positions once the day’s loss reaches this amount.
Max daily loss (% of equity)
Default: 3%
The same limit, as a share of account equity.
Max consecutive losses
Default: 4
Losing trades in a row, across all strategies.
Max trades per day
Default: 20
Entries across all strategies in one trading day.
Max aggregate exposure
Default: Off
Total open Momentum Lab exposure, all strategies combined.
Execution-error threshold
Default: 3
Order errors in one day before new entries stop.
Market-data failure
Default: 30 s
New entries pause once your data source has been failing this long — and resume when it recovers.
Broker-connection failure
Default: 60 s
New entries pause once your broker has been unreachable this long — and resume when it recovers.

15 · PatternX AI (optional)

The deterministic market-data engine must detect a real price move first — PatternX AI never manufactures a price event. When you switch it on, it ranks or filters those genuine opportunities using volume, relative volume, liquidity, spread, volatility (the move against the stock's normal range), market regime (SPY movement), news and catalyst context with Alpaca data, and — once there are at least five — your own results on similar setups.

A factor with no data is left out rather than guessed, and an opportunity needs at least two known factors to pass. The AI filter can only remove or rank an opportunity; it cannot create one, and it never loosens your filters or limits.

16 · Analytics & parameter versions

Each strategy reports trades, win rate, average win and loss, profit factor, expectancy, net P&L, maximum drawdown, average hold time, average slippage, best and worst trade, maximum favorable and adverse excursion, exit reasons, and premarket versus regular-session results.

Results are attributed to the exact parameter version in force when each position was opened. Changing the trigger from 5% to 7%, or the trail from 0.5% to 1%, creates a new version — earlier trades stay with the version that produced them, so two different strategies are never blended into one set of numbers.

17 · Backtesting

Backtests replay real extended-hours history — one-minute bars — through the same strategy and exit logic as the live engine, wherever your data source provides that history. Where it does not, there is no backtest: nothing is fabricated.

Test combinations side by side — for example entry thresholds of 3, 5, 7 and 10% against trailing distances of 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1 and 2% — together with maximum-spread, premarket-volume, market-cap-preset and (for Opening Momentum Continuation) opening-confirmation variations.

What a backtest cannot know
Historical bars carry no quote tape, so the bid/ask is modelled from an assumed spread, and every fill pays half of it plus the slippage you set. A bar that opens beyond a stop fills at that open — worse than the trigger, as a live gap would. Displayed quote size is not available historically, and the AI filter is not replayed. The Market Cap Safety Filter is applied first, as live, using today's market cap for every day (there is no point-in-time market-cap history); a stock without one is skipped. Past results do not guarantee future results.

18 · Limitations — read before going Live

  • Momentum Lab applies rules; it does not predict prices. A move can reverse at any moment, including right after an entry.
  • Extended-hours markets are thinner: wider spreads, smaller displayed size, sharper moves and more slippage than the regular session.
  • A trailing distance, an emergency stop or a take-profit decides when PatternX acts, not the price you get. Gaps, halts, rejected orders and partial fills can all produce a materially different exit.
  • Brokers differ in what they accept outside regular hours — order types, native trailing stops, stop orders, fractional shares and short selling.
  • A PatternX Synthetic Trail depends on PatternX, your broker connection and your market data. Breakers pause new entries during an outage; they cannot guarantee an exit.
  • Without a real-time extended-hours entitlement, Momentum Lab will not trade — by design.
  • Paper and backtest results are hypothetical and usually kinder than live fills.
  • Momentum Lab covers US stocks. It is software, not a broker or adviser, and nothing it shows is investment advice.

19 · Troubleshooting

I can see Momentum Lab but cannot enable itPaper and live execution need the Elite plan. Other plans get the preview only.
Every candidate shows “Skipped — Data Quality”Your data is delayed or stale — usually a missing real-time extended-hours entitlement, or a feed that does not cover premarket. Check your broker or provider subscription.
Lots of “Skipped — Liquidity Filter”Premarket books are thin. Read the reason on each row; loosen only the filter that is actually blocking, and only if you accept the extra risk.
A stock ran from +3% to +12% and was never enteredIt moved more than the maximum chase past the trigger (Skipped — Moved Too Far), or was first seen already past the trigger.
Momentum Reversal never takes gainer reversalsThose are short entries. Your broker must allow short selling for the account and the stock.
Protection says PatternX Synthetic TrailThat is the default. Broker Native needs every condition under Trailing protection — including Live mode, a regular-session fill and a hard emergency stop of 0.
The exit filled well below the trailA gap, wide spread or slippage. The trail sets when PatternX exits, not the fill price — see Trailing protection.
Trading stopped on its ownA circuit breaker tripped, or the kill switch is on. Loss and trade-count breakers reset with the next New York trading day.
My statistics restarted after I changed a settingThat change created a new parameter version. Earlier results are kept with the version that produced them.

Risk notice. Extended-hours trading carries additional risk: thinner liquidity, wider spreads, sharper price swings and order types your broker may not accept outside the regular session. Momentum Lab applies the rules you configure — it does not predict prices, and a move can reverse at any moment. Backtested and paper results are hypothetical, and past results do not guarantee future results. Trading involves risk of loss. See the full risk disclaimer.
