What’s new in PatternX

About this page

Every user-facing change to PatternX, newest first, dated by the day it reached production. Internal work such as logging, tests and deployment is left out. Prices aren’t repeated here because they change; current prices are on the pricing page.

October 2026

  1. Billing

Card payments, lower plan prices and a 7-day Elite pass

    • You can now pay by card as well as with crypto. Card plans renew automatically and can be canceled at any time; crypto plans are still renewed by hand.
    • “Manage subscription” on the Billing page opens a portal where you can switch plans, update your card, see invoices or cancel at the end of the billing period.
    • Prices of all paid plans are halved, and yearly billing is still 20% off. Current prices are on the pricing page.
    • New 7-day Elite pass: a one-time payment, by card or crypto, for a week of Elite. It doesn’t renew, can be bought once per account and isn’t sold on top of a paid plan.
  2. Platform

    Filter Trade History by exchange

    • Trade History has a new exchange filter that works together with the status filters, and the totals follow the exchange you pick.
  3. Momentum LabPlatform

Momentum Lab trades on your main trading pages

    • Momentum Lab trades now appear next to your signal trades on Signal Scanner (new Momentum tab), Active Trades (All / Signals / Momentum switch) and Trade History (new Momentum filter), always marked with a Momentum badge.
    • Open Momentum positions on Active Trades show size, entry, last price, trailing stop, hard stop, take-profit and live P&L. “Exit now” asks you to confirm first, and in Live mode it sends a real order.
    • Closed Momentum trades count toward the Trade History totals, with Momentum’s share shown separately. Entries that never filled are listed as not filled, with the reason.
    • Your past Momentum trades stay visible on these pages even if you move off the Elite plan.
  4. Momentum Lab

    Momentum Lab launches on Elite

    • Momentum Lab is now part of the Elite plan; other plans can open a preview with sample data. It watches lists of top-moving US stocks and can run three strategies for pre-market and opening moves: Premarket Momentum Breakout, Momentum Reversal and Opening Momentum Continuation.
    • Every strategy setting is editable, and each change is saved as a new parameter version. Analytics break results down by strategy, session, parameter version and market-cap setting, and backtests compare parameter grids on recent 1-minute bars from your data source.
    • A minimum market cap is mandatory and checked first: $100M+, $500M+ (the default) or $2B+. A stock without a current market cap is never entered; when IBKR sends no figure, PatternX derives one from the share count in the company’s latest annual or quarterly SEC report and marks it as derived.
    • Paper and Live run the same engine; Live trading goes through IBKR or Alpaca and needs a typed confirmation. Exits follow a trailing distance from the best price since the fill, which is not a loss limit: gaps, spreads and partial fills can make an exit worse.
    • STOP MOMENTUM TRADING halts new entries and lets you choose whether to exit open positions, and circuit breakers block new entries once a limit is hit; “Reset breaker” counts those limits again from the moment you reset. Full details are in the Momentum Lab guide.
  5. AutomationRiskMarkets

Order routing, scanning and margin-check fixes

    • IBKR orders now always go to the stock’s US listing, never to a foreign listing that shares its ticker. This covers both signal trades and Momentum Lab; a ticker with no US listing is treated as unavailable.
    • A logged-out broker connection no longer slows down scanning for every market. PatternX sets it aside for two minutes at a time and uses it again within two minutes of it logging back in.
    • The free-margin check now counts only open positions on the venue being traded, so positions at one broker or exchange no longer cause trades elsewhere to be skipped for lack of margin. Paper trades are checked against your paper positions.

September 2026

  1. RiskMarkets

    Per-market take-profit and stop-loss options

    • The Traditional tab in risk settings now has its own take-profit and stop-loss unit (percent or pips), pip distances, basis (% of price movement or % of margin) and “Use my exact TP/SL” switch, set independently of the Crypto tab.
    • Until you next save your risk settings, traditional markets keep following your crypto choices, as before.
    • Pip-based targets are Elite-only on the Traditional tab, as they are on the Crypto tab.
  2. RiskAutomation

Trailing stop and break-even for traditional markets

    • Traditional markets can now have their own trailing stop and break-even settings: Same as crypto, Off, or their own percentage. Nothing changes until you choose, and open positions keep the trail they were opened with.
    • Risk settings are reorganized: the Crypto and Traditional tabs hold what differs per market, account-wide limits sit under “Both markets”, and the pattern day trader guard moved to the Traditional tab.
    • If a broker briefly reports no position right after a fill, PatternX no longer books the trade as closed or cancels its stop. Such a report now counts only once the position is at least three minutes old and two checks a minute apart agree.
  3. Markets

Clearer 2FA code entry for IBKR one-click connect

    • A typed 2FA code is now accepted only while IBKR is asking for one. The panel counts down the time left and shows when IBKR last asked, so an old code is never carried over to a later login attempt.
    • PatternX sends a push or Telegram notification when IBKR asks for a code, up to three in a row while none is answered.
    • Results now come from the gateway’s own login attempt: IBKR’s error message when it rejects a code, a notice when IBKR accepts the code but the session then drops, and a plain note when the code didn’t log the gateway in and no reason is known.
  4. Markets

Typed 2FA codes on new IBKR one-click gateways

    • Newly created IBKR one-click gateways now recognize IBKR’s 2FA code prompt, so a code typed in PatternX can reach IBKR.
  5. AutomationRisk

More accurate exit reasons and a scanning fix

    • Trade History now shows “Trailing stop” only when the trailing stop had actually moved the stop; an exit at the original stop reads “Stop loss”.
    • A new “Max-loss backstop” exit reason marks positions closed because the loss reached your stop-loss setting while the trade’s own stop was set further away.
    • One unresponsive broker connection no longer blocks signal scanning for that whole broker; PatternX sets it aside for a few minutes and retries it later.
  6. Platform

Immediate support replies from the PatternX assistant

    • Support messages now get an immediate reply from the PatternX assistant, an AI language model briefed on how PatternX works. Its replies are labeled, and the PatternX team can take over a conversation at any time.
    • When the assistant can’t answer, it passes the question to a person. It is instructed not to give financial advice and never to ask for passwords, API keys or 2FA codes.
    • A help assistant on the homepage answers questions about PatternX; if you’re signed in, your question is added to your support thread so the team can follow up.
  7. Markets

Typed 2FA codes for IBKR one-click connect

    • If IBKR asks for a typed 2FA code instead of an IB Key notification, you can now enter it in the IBKR one-click connect panel. The box turns orange while the gateway is waiting for a code.
    • The panel now shows whether IBKR accepted or rejected your code, or whether it expired unused, instead of only confirming that the code was saved.
  8. RiskAutomation

Live positions need a stop at the broker

    • If a broker refuses the stop when a live position opens, PatternX now closes the position right away and alerts you, instead of keeping it open on a stop that only PatternX’s software enforces. If that close also fails, you get an urgent alert and PatternX keeps retrying the stop.
    • On IBKR, the stop is now sent on its own before the take-profit, so a rejected take-profit no longer takes the stop down with it. PatternX also checks every two minutes that the stop is still resting at IBKR and re-places it if it has disappeared.
    • A new watchdog alerts you when PatternX can’t get a price for an open live position: after 3 minutes when it knows no stop is resting at the broker, otherwise after 10 minutes. If PatternX can’t reach your broker, the alert asks you to check the stop on your broker’s own screen.
    • If IBKR accepts a stop for regular trading hours only, you’re now told that it won’t trigger pre-market or after-hours, and how to enable “Outside RTH” in your IBKR trading permissions.
  9. MarketsRisk

IBKR balance and one-click connect fixes

    • IBKR balances now show the account’s net liquidation value instead of its cash balance, so short-sale proceeds no longer inflate the balance that position sizes are based on.
    • IBKR one-click connect now gives you more time to approve the IB Key notification on your phone.
    • A one-click gateway that has stopped with an error now still receives PatternX’s setting updates, so fixes reach it without creating a new gateway.

Longer announcements are on the PatternX product blog, and how each part works is documented in the methodology.
